Happy City Living is a blog dedicated to making rental life in NYC just a little bit easier…well, hopefully, a lot easier! My name is Rebecca, and I am an adoptive New Yorker (native to Connecticut). After almost a decade in the city, I’ve had my fair share of experiences with being a renter in one of the priciest cities in the world.
At some point, I realized that every time I signed a lease on an apartment, I was going in blind. I had no clue what the process should be like, and I had no clue if I was really being treated fairly. Evenutally, I decided to get a real estate license, and I learned the ins and outs of what renting SHOULD entail.
For my full-time gig, I’m a 9-5′er, working in the media industry. So, I’m not a full-time real estate agent. Rather, I use my license to help city friends and acquaintances in their hunts for homes. The more I hear friends, co-workers, and even strangers talk about their renting struggles here, the more I realize that knowledge is power in this market! My goal is to pass along the info I’ve been given and the experiences I’ve had as a resident of NYC, so that you don’t have to fly by the seat of your pants while trying to make a life here. New York is a great city – the best city, in my opinion! So enjoy it, for all it’s worth. Happy city living!
